Jim Doyle and the old oak

This is a European oak, Quercus robur. It grows near Libochowice, Czech republic and was first mentioned in the year 1004!!!

Jim and Walter, do they have something filling the hollow in the trunk? Mike

Well, they obviously filled them with something like cement. State of the art is, however, that holes are NOT filled anymore. It only increases the danger of rotting.
