International Bonsai Academy in France2012 #1

For a third time we met on this castle in Alsace in France to do serious bonsai together. By now it is kind of a family reunion.
We alway start with an extensive tree inspiration, meaning a thorough anlysis of every tree that folks brought with them.

Walter, one of the trees - I'm pretty sure it's a tilia - has leaves that have curled downward. I had something similar happen to a tilia a year or two ago. Is that probably caused by a specific cultural problem (too much watering, too much or little feed), or just the end of the season?

It is a cultural problem of some sort. Could also be growing in shade. It may be better next season. Sometimes it is genetic.
