Bonsai Academy in Brazil 2012 #3

For two days the International Bonsai Academy happened at Bonsai Morro Velho in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.

This is a bonsai center owned by Fernando Magalhães and his lovely wife Camilla.

The address is: Avenida Antônio Francisco Lisboa, 177 - Bandeirantes (PAMPULHA), Belo Horizonte - MG.

For the first demo they gave me a really huge lagerstroemia indica. This is Indian lilac and does not grow in central Europe. One can find it in the south of USA though.
this tree will flower at the tips of the new growth. Therefore the crown was made rather small to take care of future growth. The very last image shows such a tree as I have seen it in Los Angeles. It can be quite ramified when a mature bonsai.
As usual a broadleaved tree does not look so good after a demonstration. guess why you almost never see any one of the bi names with a broadleaved tree on stage.
